Values-based banking starts with being transparent

Beyond banks, branches and bottom lines, there are people. People who care about their community. People who have a lot of choices about where to bank. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to honest and impactful financial services.

A place for everyone to belong

We’re a little different. We strive to put our members’ funds to work in ways that provide benefits to people, the local economy, and the environment. We work hard to ensure that we never put a member in a loan that won’t put them in a better financial position. We market all of our products and services responsibly. And if a member is facing financial hardship, we go the extra mile to provide support and financial education.

That’s belonging. And belonging is the new banking.

Take a look at our numbers

We think our members should be able to access our financials and see our performance whenever they want. That’s why we make it available to you in our branches and on our website.

How’s that for transparency?

Financial Statements

We are Montana’s largest Community Development Financial Institution and its second largest credit union. We got here by being open and honest with our members. Which is why we think you should be able to see our financial statements. Visit NCUA.gov and search for charter number 11300. You will see all our financial data and how we compare to our peers.

GABV Key Figures

In 2017, we became the second credit union in the United States to join the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV). Great success starts with a plan

As part of our commitment to values-based banking, Clearwater Credit Union has developed a strategic plan designed to grow with us and provide a framework for assessing our success. Approved on February 27, 2023, the Clearwater Strategic Plan carries us through 2025 and is intended to be revisited annually. Learn about our values-based banking approach in our full strategic plan.

Sustainability in action

For every action, there is a reaction. How we do business has repercussions for our members, our economy, and our planet. We care about our community. That is why we are committed to making environmentally conscientious choices. From recycled paper, a reduction in water use, to how our employees commute – we’ve taken a hard, objective look at our internal practices. We know what our opportunities for improvement are and we’re committed to exceeding them. That is our promise to you.

Environmental Impact Assessment

The first step to reducing our carbon footprint is to fully understand what it is. Since 2018 we have conducted annual Environmental Impact Assessments. They contain our approach to environmental sustainability, a summary of our impact, and a detailed description of data and methods.

Path to Carbon Neutral

Driven by data from our Environmental Assessment, we have a clear grasp of our impact and know we can be better environmental stewards. In 2020 we became carbon neutral using offsets purchased from a local affordable housing project. We will continue to drive down our direct emissions and reduce our environmental impact.

Go green with us

We can make a difference and we’re happy to help you do the same by going paperless. We are dedicated to providing our members with online, mobile and phone banking options to help all of us reduce our paper consumption. Stop by a branch near you, or contact us to make the switch from paper to electronic statements.

Moving the needle on pay equality

How would you like a job where you are empowered to make a difference in your community? Now, how would you like to work for a company that is also committed to making a difference in the lives of its employees? We thought you might like that.

At Clearwater we want to support our team of creative problem solvers by ensuring that every employee is paid competitively and most of all, fairly. Our commitment to living our values is evident in our Compensation Philosophy – a policy crafted to ensure that the difference between our highest and lowest paid co-workers can never become too wide. We believe that both current and potential employees should know exactly where we stand on equal pay.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At Clearwater, diversity, equity, and inclusion inform our core values. We believe that welcoming a variety of perspectives is the best way to generate ideas, build inclusive economies, and respond to the complex problems facing the communities we serve.

To hold ourselves accountable to our core value of Together We Include,” we’re working to ensure that our policies and procedures support Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.
